Sign up for a day of Capacity Building in the area of Cultural Competency, specifically created for Mental Health Specialists, Student Service Professionals, and Advisors. Space is limited. Attendees will be able to attend 3 of the following 6 breakout sessions:
o Moving Beyond implicit and explicit bias: How do majority advisors and student service professionals serve a more diverse student body?
o Conflict Resolution Approaches for Deescalating Tense Situations
o Gender Identity and expression - growing cultural competency of LGBTQ+ populations
o Recovery from effects of childhood trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACE), to be successful in life and in the classroom
o Adjusting to UW-Madison's cultural and identity challenges. What are the barriers to success and personal growth?
o Compassion fatigue and resiliency: Developing coping skills to keep doing our best work even when emotionally drained and exhausted.
