Note: This is the second course in a two course series. We strongly recommend you complete Expanding Self-Knowledge to Adapt and Thrive before taking Creating an Inclusive Work Environment.
Description: Imagine a campus where everyone has a sense of belonging, feels respected, is seen for who they are, and is valued as a contributing member of UW. Come together with your colleagues to explore how we can make this a reality. In this course, you will define inclusion, reflect on unconscious bias, and consider how microaggressions impact others. Lastly, we will explore how one might respond when a microaggression happens in the workplace.
Why should I attend? • Define: Inclusion, unconscious bias, and microaggressions • Consider: How can unconscious bias lead to microaggressions? • Practice: Responding to microaggressions to create an inclusive work environment
