A “competent person” designation is required within some activatesand disciplines to ensure activities are monitored for proper staging and completed safely. The definition of a competent person as “one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them.” This module provides the skill set necessary for an employer to designate an employee as a competent person in an applicable activity or discipline.
