Summary The practice of emotional intelligence (EQ) is valuable now, more than ever. Recognizing our own and others’ feelings to guide our thinking and actions serves as a powerful tool in connecting with people – building trust – and fostering inclusion and a sense of belonging; and is particularly useful in the workplace. According to Forbes, Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is one of the top 10 skills that organizations are seeking in team members. Additionally, as organizations continue to implement responsive and sustainable change initiatives – such as diversity, inclusion, and equity practices – understanding and valuing the role of emotion is key. This cohort experience will be interactive. You will be invited to bring your own experiences and understanding as tools for individual and collective reflection, learning, and practice with colleagues.
What to know: • Build connection and community by attending three courses, every other week for six weeks, with the same group of people • Explore and discuss the foundations, complexities, and practices of the following emotional intelligence elements: o Noticing and Naming Emotions o Leading with Empathy o Cultivating Curiosity and Vulnerability o Perspective-taking and Perspective-getting o Exploring Emotional Hooks • Learn about resources and strategies to build your emotional intelligence capacity as team member, colleague, supervisor/manager, and beyond
