The University of Wisconsin–Madison is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive experience for all students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests. This training targets the following learning objectives and skills to help UW–Madison grow inclusion through its awareness of disability, ableism, and accessibility.
Why you should attend: As a result of taking this training, you will be able to apply the following information in your daily work to contribute to an inclusive and accessible environment at UW–Madison: • Increased awareness and understanding of: o Disabilities o Ableism or ability-based privilege o Disability-related laws and UW-Madison policies • Recognize and increase proficiency in: o Dispelling common disability myths and stereotypes o Identifying and navigating privilege o Using inclusive language to contribute to a healthy university culture o Locating and using accessibility and disability-related university resources • Understanding that accessibility is our shared university responsibility The workshop and conversation will be facilitated by invited subject matter experts, Sandi Arendalkowski, Digital Accessibility Program Coordinator in the Center for User Experience and Ruben Mota, ADA Coordinator in the Office of Compliance.
