This online course is required for those who will use x-ray generating devices and/or radioactive materials in the context of animal research or veterinary medicine at UW-Madison. It will give you a basic understanding of what radiation is, the risks, and the safety principles you will use to protect yourself in this unique setting.
Completion of this course and the in-person Radiation Safety 101 Part II is mandatory for those who will be using radioactive materials in animals at UW-Madison. Completion of refresher training, Radiation Safety 102, is required each year in October for radioactive materials users.
If your work only includes x-ray generating equipment, you do not need to complete the in-person course and Radiation Safety 102.
