The Safety Boot Camp training covers potential hazards and safety protocols on campus. It aims to teach participants basic safety skills to help create a culture of safety. The training consists of two sessions and participants are required to attend both sessions.
Safety topics at an awareness level include the following:
Session I Campus Culture of Safety (Safety Moment), Emergency Response, Fire Protection, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, Emergency Shower & Eye Wash, Hazardous Materials (Compressed Gases, Flammable Liquids, Asbestos, Lead, Silica), Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Hand & Power Tool Safety, Electrical Safety, Ladder & Scaffold Safety.
Session II Fall Protection Safety, Confined Spaces, Housekeeping (Slip, Trips & Falls), Hot Work Safety, Chain & Hoist Safety, Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklifts) & Aerial Lift Safety, Lab Safety, Animal Safety, Winter Safety, Heat Stress, Vehicle & Driving Safety, Safe Lifting and Back Safety, Knife Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The training is for employees new to campus. For 2nd, 3rd and 12-hour shift employees, please discuss with your supervisor.
