Welcome to the LGBTQ+ Perspectives professional development course. This course is part of the Perspectives Series. This self-paced virtual training will help you build your awareness and skills to help create a more LGBTQ+ inclusive culture and climate at UW-Madison and to improve the belonging and well-being of all employees, students, and campus community members.
The LGBTQ+ Perspectives course has 3 modules. Start with the module that best meets your learning needs. Read more about each one below to help you decide where to start:
Module 1: Introduction to the Perspectives Series - If you have never participated in the online version of a Perspectives course, start with this module. This section will give you more information about the series, including the other courses available. This module has one section and should take about 5-7 minutes to complete.
Module 2: LGBTQ+ 101 - If you are newer to learning about LGBTQ+ communities or want more practice, start with this module. This part of the course will help you learn about gender and sexual orientation, inclusive language, and why LGBTQ+ inclusion matters. This module has one section and should take about 15 minutes to complete.
Module 3: LGBTQ+ Perspectives - This is the main course content. If you feel confident that you understand all of the LGBTQ+ 101 content, start with this module. This part of the course will teach you about the climate at UW, how to use your existing skills to support LGBTQ+ campus community members, and how to build more inclusive working and learning environments. This module has five sections and should take about 45 minutes to complete.
