Inviting minors into research laboratories offers powerful learning opportunities—but it also comes with important safety and youth protection responsibilities. This session supports faculty, staff, and researchers who host lab tours, educational activities, or youth interns by outlining how to create experiences that meet UW-Madison’s safety and protection standards.
Participants will explore key elements of the Minors in Research Laboratories Policy (UW-6106) and the university’s Youth Protection Policy (UW-1045), and understand how each applies to research lab settings.
