This workshop looks at specific examples highlighting the most efficient and cost-effective way to purchase common items using the Shop@UW E-Commerce operation at UW-Madison. It is ideal for staff new to the University and/or campus ordering many common types of products such as office supplies, lab supplies, maintenance supplies, lab gases, and/or computers as a part of their duties. This course is 1.5 hours and includes: • MDS Shop@UW operational and product overview • How to create the MD account login for ordering products • Shop@UW navigation; e.g., top, side, etc. • Types of products that can be obtained from the Shop@UW ordering site, including: office supplies, scientific and lab supplies, maintenance supplies, lab gases, and computers • Demonstration of the Shop@UW search function for hosted suppliers • How to use search filters and product comparisons to obtain a product search to determine the lowest overall cost from hosted suppliers • The Shop@UW punch-out supplier and how the punch-out website differs from a consumer website • Demonstrations of special supplier punch-out website functions; e.g., quote-to-order, online returns, etc. • Overview of the Shop@UW E-Commerce ordering process • Quick introduction to tips and tricks for transaction look up, order history, exporting into excel for data analysis, etc.
