Volunteer Tutors Needed
Cultural Linguistic Services, within the Office of Talent Management, is in need of tutors to help UW-Madison employees develop their learning in areas such as: English language, literacy (English and Spanish), writing, math, and other subjects. Scheduling and meeting locations are flexible. To become a tutor, complete an application or contact Jzong Thao at jzong.thao@wisc.edu.

Designed for department and program chairs, and assistant and associate deans, these workshops encourage and promote excellence by providing leaders with the skills they will need in order to succeed in their professional endeavors. Both experienced and inexperienced leaders will benefit as this serves as the foundation prepraration for new leaders and continued enrichment for more experienced leaders. How to thrive and survive as a department chair--sessions designed by and for department chairs Join a small group of your colleagues in open discussions on topics of interest to chairs. Variety of topics including topics related to work-life balance. Sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of the Faculty as a part of New Faculty Services.

 

Center Director's Chats

How to thrive and survive as a Center Director--Sessions designed by and for Center Directors. Join a small group of your colleagues in open discussions on topics of interest to center directors. Topics are defined by center directors. The sessions address a focused topic and typically include a director or two who have managed to tackle the issue, perhaps a content expert, a coordinator, and a small number of colleagues. No cost and a free lunch. Simply sign up and show up. Numbers are limited to ensure small group discussions, so be sure to register online. Sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Office of Quality Improvement, and the Office of Human Resource Development.

 

Climate Workshop for Chairs

Developed by the Women in Science and Engineering Leadership Institute (WISELI), the climate workshop engage small groups of department chairs in discussions about climate in their own departments, and provides the chairs with the opportunity to learn from each others' experiences and ideas. A brief departmental climate survey administered between the first and second workshops that allows chairs to identify specific issues of concern for their departments and develop a plan to address these issues
